Results 

LUBBOCK, Texas (SMU) -- The Mustangs kicked off their 2025 track and field season with a strong showing at Texas Tech's Corky Classic this weekend. Freshman Kelis Jules made her debut as a Mustang in the 60-meter hurdles – rewriting history as she did it. 

Jules ran a time of 8.66, which ties the second fastest time in program history. Her time qualified her to the semi-final heats in Lubbock, which boasted a competitive field of athletes. This time will place her in the ACC Top 15. 

Leoni Mierswa runs a time of 2:15.22 in the 800 – a top ten time within the conference so far this season – to place seventh. Emily Waller followed in 11th with 2:17.24. Kaitlyn Gearin was less than a second behind her with a time of 2:17.97. Emily Little placed 18th with 2:20.19. Winning her heat, Ellie Grammas ran 2:23.15. 

Hedda Kvalvag and Raelyn Roberson started their season in the long jump with marks of 5.57 meters and 5.51 meters. Maykayla Jackson jumped 11.76 meters in the triple jump. 

The Mustangs showed out in the heats of the 200. Freshman Jasmine Franklin was second across the line for her heat, running 24.46. Ariana Sutton ran 24.77 to win her heat. 

Macey Hilton placed second in the 1,000 with a time of 2:51.19. Mierswa placed fourth overall after winning her heat with a time of 2:53.49. 

Emily Little ran a time of 5:03.09 in the mile to place 12th. Gearin won her heat with 5:08.26 and Grammas ran a time of 5:11.50. 

The meet concluded with the SMU 4x400 relay made up of Nea Sanders, Sutton, Hali Murphy and Kirin Chacchia running a time of 3:45.11.
