TORONTO (SMU)- Former SMU women's soccer goalkeeper
Sierra Cota-Yarde signed with AFC Toronto, announced by the club on Thursday.
The Toronto native returned to her hometown and signed her first professional contract after transferring to SMU last season for her final year of eligibility. She is the ninth Mustang to sign with a professional club in the past five years.
Cota-Yarde started all 17 games in net for the Mustangs in 2024. She totaled 77 saves, including a season-high of nine in a 1-1 draw against then No. 2 Florida State. She recorded five or more saves in nine matches during the season, including four straight of seven or more during ACC play.
Cota-Yarde ended the season with a save percentage of .748 and a GAA of 1.71. She faced a total of 250 shots and recorded two solo shutouts and two combined shutouts.
She began her collegiate career at Prairie View A&M before transferring to Arkansas and helped them reach the NCAA Tournament in 2023.
