WILMINGTON, N.C. (SMU) – SMU women's golf finished in fourth place at the Landfall Tradition from Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course.

"Tough to finish the way we did, but I'm extremely proud of this group for putting us in position to compete at the top of the leaderboard," said head coach Lauren Mason. "With only four players and our fifth player sick, we were unable to bring a healthy squad all week, but they really stepped up and were able to beat some very strong teams ranked ahead of us! That experience will only help us grow and improve heading into the spring season."

"This is a really strong group of players who continue to set the standard high, and we'll keep pushing to achieve even more this spring. Time to get back to work this offseason."

SMU entered the final round in third place trailing North Carolina and UCF. The team shot six-over on Sunday to move into fourth place. The Mustangs finished ahead of eight ranked teams. With rounds of one-under and one-over on the first two days, the Mustangs wrapped up play at six-over for the tournament.  SMU has finished in the top third in each of its last three tournaments.
 
Emily Odwin led the Mustangs for the third straight tournament. She recorded her 10^th top 10 finish of her career with an eighth place showing. The senior carded rounds of 72, 70 and 71. She moved up 19 spots in her best round on Saturday.
 
Grace Jin carded rounds of 71, 74, and 72 in her best performance as a Mustang. Jin tallied just one bogey in her final round. She finished in a tie for 14^th and recorded an eagle on day one.
 
Celine Chen finished in a tie for 35^th at the Landfall Tradition. She shot a 79 in the final round. Chen carded two rounds of par or better on the week with a 71 and 72 on the first two days.  Mackenzie Lee shot a 77. Lee recorded three birdies in four holes near the beginning of her round. Freshman Uma Bergner came back from a sickness in round two to post a 74 in round three.
 
The Landfall Tradition wraps up the fall slate for SMU. The team will next be in action Feb. 1-3, 2026 at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge.
