CHARLOTTE, N.C. (ACC/SMU) – SMU Men's Soccer senior
Slade Starnes was named Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Starnes earned his second ACC weekly honors after leading the Mustangs' defensive line that earned a clean sheet at No. 1 Stanford on Sunday.
SMU became the first team to shut out and draw the Cardinal in Palo Alto, California, this season.
The Dallas native was instrumental in suppressing Stanford's offense that made 18 shots through 90 minutes with his blocks, tackles, aerial challenges and clearances.
This is SMU's fourth ACC weekly award this season. Starnes won his first ACC Defensive Player of the Week honor on Sep. 30.
Celebrate Starnes and SMU's seniors on Senior Day as the Mustangs host No. 11 Virginia for their final regular-season match at Washburne Stadium on Friday.
