KANSAS CITY, Mo. (SMU) – Four SMU Men's Soccer student-athletes earned United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Honors as announced by the association on Tuesday.
Slade Starnes,
Charles-Emile Brunet,
Stephan Soghomonian and
Daniel Escorcia were named on the All-Region teams following the Mustangs' 2025 season where they won the ACC Championship title.
Starnes was named on the All-South Region First Team on the same day he was included on the MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist list. He was named ACC Championship Tournament MVP, All-ACC Second Team and is a two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Week (Sep. 30 and Oct. 28) after leading the Mustangs' defense to seven clean sheets through the historic season.
Brunet was named on the All-South Region Second Team after playing a major role on the Mustangs' midfield throughout the season. Brunet was named All-ACC Third Team, having recorded six assists and two goals in his first season with SMU.
Soghomonian was also included on the All-South Region Second Team after becoming the Mustangs' leading scorer for the 2025 season. He scored 13 goals in 20 matches and tied the ACC Championship record with four goals through the tournament to lead SMU to its first ACC title. He was named All-ACC Second Team, was on the ACC All-Tournament Team and is a two-time ACC Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 7 and Oct. 21).
Escorcia collected six assists as SMU's offensive control tower to earn All-South Region Third Team honors. He was the Mustangs' primary playmaker with 18 starts out of 20 matches in their second ACC campaign, where they won the ACC Championship trophy.
