Two New SMU Record Holders are Crowned in College Station

Results

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) -- History was rewritten time and time again for the Mustangs throughout competition this weekend at Texas A&M. Freshman Kelis Jules raced the 60 meter hurdles three times in two days – qualifying out of prelims and semis to finals and breaking the school record every time she took to the track. Jules broke the previous record that had stood since 1988 with a time of 8.60 in the prelims and landed on 8.57 for the new record in finals.

Macey Hilton joined Jules today as the newest SMU record holder with her time of 4:41.41 in the mile. The previous record had been atop the SMU history books since 2013. Leoni Mierswa also ran a PR time that moved her up in the top SMU times. She is now second all-time with 4:42.12.

Hilton and Mierswa kept this energy going in the 800. Hilton ran another personal best time of 2:09.10 for fourth best in SMU history and Mierswa ran 2:11.56, which is a season best time. Emily Waller also ran a personal best with 2:12.02 -- placing her ninth in the record books.

The 200 produced a PR for Kirin Chacchia who ran 24.82. Nea Sanders ran 24.89 -- a season best. Camryn McPhaul ran 25.41.

The jumpers made their best marks this season. Raelyn Roberson jumped 5.71 meters in the long jump and Maykayla Jackson jumped 11.99 meters in the triple jump.

Gabriella Ayiteyfio competed in her first pentathlon of the season placing ninth overall with a score of 3,586. Ayiteyfio produced her highest placement of fourth in the shot put with a throw of 12.03 meters. She now sits at ninth within the ACC.

SMU's 4x400 relay made up of McPhaul, Ariana Sutton, Waller and Chacchia ran the third fastest time in SMU history of 3:40.87.

The Mustangs will be back on the track next weekend at Texas Tech.
