Results

FORT WORTH, Texas (SMU) -- The Mustangs had a strong showing in today's season opener meet at TCU. A handful of top-10 SMU times were produced, including three in the 100-meter hurdles.

Nea Sanders placed second in Fort Worth today and ran 13.46 -- the third fastest time in program history. Kelis Jules ran 13.61 in her first outdoor meet as a Mustang and now holds the fourth fastest time run by an SMU athlete. Gabriella Ayiteyfio is sixth fastest with her PR of 14.14.

In the 1,500, three Mustangs were in the top six with Leoni Mierswa leading the charge. Mierswa placed second with a time of 4:23.87. Macey Hilton ran 4:28.74 for fourth, and Kendall Saeger ran 4:39.40 for sixth.

All four Mustangs in the 200 produced PR times, though the wind was over the allowable amount. Freshman Jasmine Franklin placed second with a time of 23.83, and Ariana Sutton ran 23.86 for third. Kelis Jules ran 24.67, and Camryn McPhaul ran 24.81.

Hilton placed third in the 800 with 2:13.05, and Mierswa ran 2:16.82 for seventh. Hali Murphy ran 2:23.77 and Magnolia Crissup ran 2:25.05.

In the 400 hurdles, Kirin Chacchia and Emily Waller both had top 10 finishes with times of 1:01.61 and 1:01.75.

The 4x100 produced the eighth fastest time by an SMU relay running 45.95. The relay consisted of Sanders, Sutton, Jules and Franklin.

In the field events, Maykayla Jackson placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.02 meters. Ayiteyfio threw 31.09 meters in the javelin for 11th place. Raelyn Roberson placed 19th in the long jump with a mark of 5.28 meters.

The 4x400 made up of Sanders, Chacchia, McPhaul and Sutton ran 3:49.59 for third.

"The team carried the momentum from the indoor season to the season opener," Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes said. "There is room to grow and the best is yet to come."

The Mustangs will be back in action next weekend for the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational.
