DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis fell 4-2 to No. 23 Clemson at the Styslinger / Altec Tennis Complex on Sunday.
 
Clemson took the early lead by winning the doubles point and the first singles point of the match, while the Mustangs fought back and won two of the following singles matches to tie the scoreline, but their efforts were not enough to turn the tables.
 
Trevor Svajda defeated his third ranked singles opponent of the season. His win over No. 84 Wassim Abderrahman is his second consecutive ranked win after his victory over Georgia Tech's No. 120 Nate Bonetto on Friday.
 
How it Went
SMU dropped the first point of the match despite Svajda and Louis Cloud winning the first doubles match of the day against Max Damm / Viktor Markov (6-3).
 
The Tigers extended its lead to 2-0 with a singles win from Viktor Markov (6-3, 6-2).
 
Ofek Shimanov decreased the Mustangs' deficit to 2-1 by winning his singles match in straight sets against Marko Markov (6-4, 6-4).
 
Svajda followed suit and won his singles match against No. 84 Wassim Abderrahman (3-6, 6-3, 6-1), tying the scoreline for SMU.
 
Clemson's No. 58 Noa Vukadin defeated Georgi Georgiev (3-6, 6-2, 6-4) on court two to take back the lead for the visitors.
 
Cloud got into a tiebreaker battle in the second set of his match against Romain Gales but fell short of forcing a third set. Gales won 6-4, 7-6(6) to make it 4-2 for the Tigers.
