RALEIGH, N.C. (SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis fell 4-1 to No. 4 NC State at J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C., on Sunday.
 
SMU and NC State went on a doubles battle that saw through three matches and two tiebreakers to begin the match. The Wolfpack won the doubles point two matches to one, clinching the first point with a 7-6(8) tiebreaker win on court one.
 
Trevor Svajda tied the match for SMU by earning his sixth ranked win of the season against No. 29 Braden Shick, but the hosts won three consecutive singles matches after Svajda's win to clinch the match.
 
How it Went
The Wolfpack took the early advantage as the 11^th-ranked pair Luca Staeheli and Jules Leroux defeated No. 44 Svajda and Louis Cloud (6-4) on court two of doubles play.
 
Vikas Deo and Noah McDonald won their doubles match on court three over Noah Gabriel and Nikolay Nedelchev (7-6(4)) to even the score, but NC State clinched the first point of the day with a win by seventh-ranked pair Braden Shick and Fons Van Sambeek (7-6(8)) over Georgi Georgiev and Ofek Shimanov on court one.
 
At the start of singles play, Svajda tied the match at 1-1 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over No. 29 Braden Shick on court one. The San Diego, California, native has won three 6-0 sets this season, this was his first 6-0 win over a ranked opponent.
 
NC State reclaimed its lead as No. 74 Staeheli defeated Georgiev on court three (6-2, 6-0) before Van Sambeek extended the Wolfpack's lead with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Cloud on court four.
 
Jules Leruoz clinched the match for the Wolfpack with a 6-4, 6-1 win over McDonald on court five.
