COLUMBUS, Ohio (SMU) – SMU women's golf moved up into fifth place after day two of the NCAA Regional. The Mustangs need a spot in the top five to secure a trip to the NCAA Championship. Emily Odwin sits in a tie for second, individually.
 
The Mustangs came into the day in a four-way tie for sixth place, two shots back of an advancing spot. On a day where scores were high across the board, the Mustangs shot 15-over to break the tie with Xavier and Illinois. They passed Kent State as well to move into the top five. At 16-over for the tournament, SMU has a one stroke cushion on the sixth spot, LSU and Kent State.
 
Odwin had another strong day shooting even par. Sher bogeyed just once on the day and moved up two spots on the leaderboard. She holds a share of second place, two shots back of first place. Her season scoring average sits at 72.35.
 
Amelie Kumar followed her even par day one with a 77 in round two. She moved into a tie for 25^th place. Celine Chen vaulted up 17 spots on the leaderboard signing a 75 on her scorecard. Chen birdied four times on the day including two in her final four holes. She holds a share of 34^th place.
 
Also in 34^th, Mackenzie Lee carded a 79 on Tuesday. Jingan (Annie) Huang shot an 80 to hold a share of 56^th.
 
The Mustangs head back to the course for Wednesday's final round looking to maintain a spot in the top five. They will be paired alongside golfers from Ohio State and LSU and tee off at 7 a.m. CT.
