ATLANTA (SMU) – Sophomore
Luke Sitz earned gold on 1-meter on the first day of competition at the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Swimming & Diving Championships, posting a new school record and becoming SMU's first-ever individual ACC Champion.
On 1-meter, Sitz recorded a score of 429.75, demolishing the previous school record of 407.25, which was set by Bryce Klein in 2016. The All-American's performance was highlighted by his Reverse 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck, earning him a mark of 78.00.
Sitz is the first sophomore in the ACC to win the title since Miami's Briadam Herrera in 2016.
Freshman
Grant Cates and
RJ Snyder made their ACC Championship debut on 1-meter. In the preliminary round, Cates finished 15th with a score of 288.70. Snyder threw down a mark of 278.45 to place 22nd.
