ROLLING HILLS ESTATE, Calif. (SMU) – SMU women's golf finished in a tie for fourth at the GameAbove Sports Invite with Celine Chen finishing in third and Mackenzie Lee coming in sixth.

"We had a strong showing at the Game Above Invitational," said head coach Lauren Mason. "Celine Chen had an absolutely fantastic tournament and tied her best finish of her career - T3, which is a great reward for the hard work she's been putting in every day. It was also great to see Mackenzie Lee back in the top 10 and playing with confidence. As a team, we continue to put the puzzle pieces together, and we're excited to keep building momentum as we head toward the end of the season when it matters most."

The Mustangs came into the final day of the tournament in fifth place. The team shot one-over in the final round to move up a spot into a tie for fourth. The Mustangs finished even or ahead of four ranked teams in No. 11 UCLA, NO. 22 Arizona, No. 30 Eastern Michigan and No. 44 Colorado. Each team in front of the Mustangs ranks in the top four in the country. SMU has finished in the top half in each of its last six tournaments.
 
Chen led the Mustangs for the second straight tournament. She posted a 69 in the first round followed by an even par 72 and a two-under 70 in the final round. Chen tied her best collegiate finish with a third-place showing. She posted 13 birdies along the way.
 
Mackenzie Lee posted her 23^rd career top 10 with a sixth-place finish. She moved up seven spots on the day with a scorecard of 70. Lee posted 73s in her first two rounds on Monday. Lee career scoring average is now 71.57 over 132 rounds.
 
Kirra St-Laurent moved up three spots into a tie for 34^th with a final round 74. Emily Odwin finished  in 37^th, up four spots on the final day after her Tuesday 75. Grace Jin finished in 46^th with her best round coming with an even par round one.
 
The Mustangs next hit the course for the Briars Creek Invitational, March 16-17, in Charleston, South Carolina.
