Martin-Evans Earns All-ACC Honors in the Long Jump

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (SMU) -- In day two of the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championship, Cleo Martin-Evans put points on the board for SMU in the long jump competition. She jumped 6.37 meters for fifth place and earned All-ACC Second Team honors.

"Today was a really fun experience, and I'm glad I could show up for the team," Martin-Evans said. "I've pushed my average higher, and I'm excited to keep making improvements."

Nea Sanders ran the fastest qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdle prelims. She won the race and punched her ticket to finals, running 12.93 seconds. In the process, Sanders set a new school record.

"Today was an energy-filled day with great vibes, and I'm hoping to carry that into tomorrow with my teammates in the relay and personally in finals," Sanders said.

In the second and final day of the heptathlon, both Renee Finke and Brentley Preston achieved several personal bests performances. Finke jumped 5.26 meters and Preston jumped 5.18 meters in the long jump. They both achieved personal bests in the javelin with Finke throwing 32.41 meters and Preston throwing 29.80 meters. The pair ran personal best times as well in the 800. Finke ran 2:25.11 and Preston ran 2:51.70.

Finke scored for the Mustangs, finishing in eighth place with a score of 5,182. Preston had a personal best score of 4,033.

"I'm so happy to have come through the end of the heptathlon on a high note," Finke said. "It's been a battle, and I'm so grateful to have competed my best these past two days and put points on the board."

Haylie Donovan placed 11th in the 400 with a time of 54.52. In the 800, Macey Hilton ran 2:08.84.

The Mustangs will be back in action tomorrow for the final day of the 2026 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
