Colby Cameron joined the Mustang staff in 2018 and serves as senior offensive quality control analyst.
 
Cameron came to the Hilltop after spending four seasons with the Fujitsu Frontiers in Japan where he played professionally and also served as the offensive passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He implemented a new offensive system that led the team to its first championship in 28 seasons, and compiled three X Bowl Championships in four seasons (2014, 2016, 2017) overall.
 
As a player, Cameron earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2014, and went on to be named Rice Bowl MVP in 2016 and 2017 and X Bowl MVP in 2016.
 
In April 2013, he signed as a free agent with the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and participated in team and preseason activities.
 
Cameron played quarterback at Louisiana Tech from 2008-2012 and helped guide the Bulldogs to an appearance in the 2011 Poinsettia Bowl and a 2011 Western Athletic Conference Championship. The 2012 WAC Player of the Year also helped Louisiana Tech to its first national ranking in 15 years and was the 2012 Sammy Baugh Award winner as well as a Davey O’Brien Award Semifinalist and a member of both the Manning and Maxwell Award Watch Lists.
 
Cameron graduated in 2012 with a degree in business finance. He and wife Kelsey have two children, Anderson Jack and Emmerson Dane.
