Riley Dodge

Riley Dodge joined SMU in January 2026 and coaches the tight ends, while also serving as the passing game coordinator.

Dodge spent the past eight seasons as the head coach at Southlake Carroll. At the helm of the Dragons since 2018, the McKinney native posted a 107-10 record, won seven district championships and five regional titles and made two state championship game appearances. In 2019, he was named the Tom Landry Coach of the Year. In the following year, Dodge was recognized as the 6A Coach of the Year.

Prior to Carroll, Dodge worked as a graduate assistant at Texas A&M and as an offensive quality control coach at the University of Texas. With a history of developing high-level players from the state of Texas, Dodge coached SMU tight end RJ Maryland at Carroll, building the foundation for Maryland to record the most career receiving yards by any tight end in SMU history. As a head coach, he also helped develop Quinn Ewers and wide receiver Brock Boyd.

Before his coaching career, Dodge was a member of three state championships at Southlake Carroll. As the starting quarterback, he was selected as the Texas High School Player of the Year in both 2006 and 2007.
