Carter Stanton enters his third year with the Mustangs and his first as Associate AD for Creative Strategy.
He joined SMU in June of 2024 as the Director of Creative Strategy for football. In this role, Stanton oversees the branding, strategy and execution of all creative content for SMU Athletics.

Stanton's efforts as the football Director of Creative Strategy helped lead to transformational growth for the program. In 2024, the Mustangs ranked 3rd in the country with a 245% engagement increase. In 2025, the Mustangs yet again ranked in the top 15 in college football in social media growth.

Stanton arrived at SMU after becoming the youngest social media coordinator in the four major US professional sports leagues, joining the Pittsburgh Pirates front office in April of 2023. During his time there, he created and posted content for an audience of over two million followers.

Prior to the Pirates, Stanton worked as a student intern for the Oklahoma State athletic department in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he created photo, video and graphic design content and helped oversee the football team’s social media publishing efforts.

Stanton graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Sports Media in May of 2023. He is originally from Butler, Pennsylvania. His family now resides in Parrish, Florida.
