Carter Stanton enters his second season with the Mustangs, joining SMU in June of 2024 in the role of Director of Creative Strategy. In this role, he oversees the overall branding, strategy and execution of all creative content for the SMU football program.

Stanton's efforts helped lead to transformational growth for the SMU Football social media platforms in 2024. The Mustangs ranked 3rd in the country with a 245% engagement increase from 2023. Across all platforms, the SMU Football accounts totaled over 6 million engagements and 125 million impressions, leading to a total social media valuation of $3.49 million from July 2024 to December 2024.
Stanton arrived at SMU after becoming the youngest social media coordinator in the four major US professional sports leagues, joining the Pittsburgh Pirates in April of 2023. During his time there, he devised, created and posted content for an audience of over two million followers.

Prior to the Pirates, Stanton worked as a student intern for the Oklahoma State athletic department in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he captured and created photo, video and graphic design content and helped oversee the football team’s social media publishing efforts.

Stanton graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Sports Media in May of 2023. He is originally from Butler, Pennsylvania. His family resides in Parrish, Florida.
