Jarne' Carroll joined the SMU volleyball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant prior to the 2015 season. She brings nearly five years of coaching experience at the high school and club levels after a standout career as an outside hitter at South Carolina State University, where she earned a degree in English in 2011.
Carroll was the 2010 MEAC Player of the Year after leading South Carolina State to the conference championship. She led the conference in kills as a senior, and finished her career second in school history in kills and fifth in aces.
She began her coaching career in December 2010 as an assistant coach with the Orangeburg Lady Cubs 18U team. She became the head coach in November 2011, and saw four of her players receive scholarship offers to play collegiate volleyball.
From April 2013 to April 2015, Carroll served as an assistant coach at Stillwater High School in Stillwater, Okla., where she helped guide the team to a regional championship. She also worked as the head coach for the Stillwater Volleyball Club 15U and 16U teams, winning silver medals in four tournaments. In June, Carroll began working as the head coach of the 17U program for the Waterview Wolves.
Carroll is married to Trumain Carroll, the Director of Strength and Conditioning at SMU, and the couple lives in Dallas with their dog Bo. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in counseling education. She is Impact Certified and Gold Medal Squared.
