Cavan Holds Media Luncheon

Dallas, Texas -- The SMU football team (1-5, 0-2) opened preparations for this Saturday's game at Hawaii on Monday afternoon at the SMU practice fields with a 90-minute workout in shorts.
"We are going to get this thing turned around," said Mustang head coach Mike Cavan. "David Page is going to start at quarterback this Saturday. We have been too careless with the football and that has hurt us. We will give David a chance and see what he can do. Giving Josh (McCown) a chance to refocus is probably best for him at this point."
During today's practice, SMU worked on special teams play and began implementing its game plan. The Mustangs will workout again on Tuesday in Dallas before departing for Hawaii on Wednesday.
Page will be making his second collegiate appearance on Saturday and his first start. He saw action, completing 2-of-4 passes, in SMU's 41-0 loss at NC State on Sept. 16.
"I am looking forward to Saturday," said Page. "Everyone on the team needs to be more focused and execute better. On offense we have been moving the ball but then we have been stopping ourselves with mistakes - penalties and turnovers. We need to correct those things to have success."
Saturday's kickoff is set for 11:05 p.m. central time and the game will be broadcast on KSTR-49 in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.
