DALLAS, TEXAS -- SMU head coach Mike Cavan put his Mustang football team through a two-and-a-half hour workout on Friday afternoon as they continue preparations for next Saturday's season-opener with Louisiana Tech in Shreveport.
"I am proud of the way the guys have approached preseason practice," Cavan said. "Now it is time to get focused on Louisiana Tech. They need to get in that mindset that we are playing next week. That process starts now."
The Mustangs spent the first portion of practice working on special teams play. Kickers Jacob Crowley and Chris McMurtray both went 4-of-4 on field goal attempts. Most of the rest of practice was devoted to work against scout teams units.
SMU will hold its final scrimmage of the preseason on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
