DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU football program held its annual Awards Reception on Saturday, Dec. 4, in the Stadium Club at Gerald J. Ford Stadium, where Bobby Chase and Alvin Nnabuife were named Offensive and Defensive MVPs, respectively.
Chase, a sophomore from Irving, made an immediate impact in his first season on the Hilltop, leading SMU with 483 yards receiving on 31 catches. Nnabuife, a junior from Missouri City, led the Ponies with 80 tackles and two fumble recoveries. He was also an invaluable part of the defense, moving to linebacker from safety midway through the season as injuries depleted the ?Stangs? roster.
SMU?s President?s Award, which is presented to the player who contributes most to the overall success of the football program, went to senior Allan Adami.
The banquet also honored the following players for earning cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or better as of the spring semester: Heath Burnett, Robert Gilmore, Trey Griffin, Duke Hasson, Chris Merrill, Ben Poynter, Zach Sledge & Ryan Wolcott.
