DALLAS (SMU) - Former SMU men's tennis standout Johan Brunstrom is testing the waters this summer by playing a number of tournaments in Europe. He reached the semifinals last week in the Savitaipale OP Open in Finland, and has defeated his first and second-round competition in this week's Vierumaki Tennis Tournaments in Vierumaki, Finland.

Brunstrom is just the sixth SMU men's tennis player in school history to become a three-time All-American. He closed out his senior campaign with a 16-10 record and departs the Hilltop with 59 career singles victories and 78 career doubles wins. Brunstrom's 78 doubles victories rank him eighth on the all-time SMU list.
Brunstrom leaves a three-time All-American (singles-2003; doubles-2001, 2002) and the 2001 ITA Indoor Doubles Champion with former Pony great Jon Wallmark. Brunstrom was also the NCAA Doubles runner-up with Wallmark in 2001, the same year made its NCAA Final Four march. In 2002, Brunstrom teamed with former SMU standout Eric Cohn as the duo finished runner-up at the 2002 NCAA Indoor Championship.
