On the loss to East Carolina...
"It is hard to win you have five turnovers and they all come on your end of the field. It made a short field for us defensively. I think there were some good things in the game. We had a good game plan offensively, but we were just short on a couple of things in the passing game. Defensively, with the exception of one or two plays, I thought we kept things intact and we are very close to being where we want to be."
On QB Jerad Romo...
"Nobody was more hurt than Jerad. He is competitive and is a winner, but he just didn't have the kind of day we needed him to have. He made some bad decisions and a couple of bad throws. He will continue to be our quarterback and is a guy who will come back and work hard and this team believes in him."
On this weekend's game with Tulsa...
"We have to get over the loss and get ready to face a team that will be ready to face us in Tulsa. They are a good football team and have won three games on the road. They've had some close games at home against Memphis and Houston. They are a team that we really have to be prepared for. They will give you multiple looks on both sides of the ball and we will have to play well to beat them. They felt like last year they should have beaten us. We recruit against them and it is a natural rivalry. Our guys respect Tulsa and they know we are going to have to step up, but having won on the road once they are confident they can do it again."
On RB DeMyron Martin...
"After his second fumble, your first tendency is to take him out, but Clarence (James) and I both agreed that we had to get him back in there. He is a redshirt freshman and he needs to keep his confidence and this is why we pushed playing him and didn't mix in many other backs. He is not a fumbler, but unfortunately he fumbled twice on Saturday. He had some good blocking and ran with good intensity."
