BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team stands in 10th place following the first round of the 2005 Shoal Creek Intercollegiate. The 15-team field made it through approximately 16 holes in round two before darkness halted play Monday evening. The remainder of the second round and the final 18 holed of the 54-hole tournament will be played on Tuesday.
Returning All-American Will Dodson and Wes Homan are leading the Mustangs, having carded 1-over 73s to stand in a tie at 22nd. Colt Knost is two shots behind Dodson at Homan at 3-over 75 and is tied for 41st. Brandon DeStefano (76, T-50th) and Dan Kleckner (78, T-63rd) round out the SMU group.
The teams started 45 minutes later than the originally scheduled 8:15 a.m. Monday tee times due to overnight and morning showers in the Birmingham area. The public is invited to watch the remainder of round two and the final round of play Tuesday at Shoal Creek. Admission is free.
