SKOKIE, Ill. (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team stands in second place following the opening round of the Windon Memorial Classic at Skokie Country Club. SMU carded a 296 and trails only Michigan State (290) in the field. Colt Knost again leads SMU, standing in second as an individual at 1-under 70. Matt Harmon of Michigan State tops the leaderboard at 2-under.
Scott Sikes, at 2-over 73, is tied for eighth. Dan Kleckner shot 76 to tie for 23rd, while Brandon DeStefano is tied for 32nd at 77. James Minahan rounds out the SMU group at 9-over 80, good for 53rd.
Other teams competing in this year's Windon Memorial Classic include Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Kent State, New Mexico, North Florida, Northern Colorado, Northwestern, Toledo and Western Illinois.
The teams will complete round two and all of round three on Monday.

Skokie Country Club is known as one of the top ranked courses in America, rated No. 72 in the country by Golfweek. The Donald Ross-design was built in 1897 and hosted the 1922 U.S. Open.
