WAHIAWA, Oahu (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team shot a 9-under 279 as a team to stand in a sixth-place tie after the first round at the John Burns Intercollegiate on the Leilehua Golf Course.
Auburn leads the tournament, shooting a 15-under-par 273. They are followed by Arizona (-13), Long Beach State and Colorado State (-11) and BYU (-10). Individually, Long Beach State's Brett Lederer leads, shooting a seven-under-par 65. He's followed by Bronson Burgood of Texas A&M and Jay Moseley of Auburn (66, -6), and six players tied at fourth place with scores of 67 (-5).
Brandon DeStefano leads SMU and is tied for 10th after carding a 4-under 68. Colt Knost is one shot back of DeStefano in 16th at 3-under 69. Scott Sikes carded a 2-under 70, good for 27th, while Will Dodson and Wes Homan are tied for 55th at even-par 77.
