DALLAS (SMU) - The women's tennis team ended regular season play with a clean slate as they blanked Abilene Christian and North Texas today. #51 Mustangs advanced to 17-5 this season and 4-0 in C-USA play.
Riding a 10 match win-streak, the Mustangs will await the seedings for the C-USA tournament which should be released on Tuesday. SMU is hosting the Championship at the Garland Tennis Center, April 20-23. Currently, the Mustangs hold the number one spot in conference.
Women's Tennis Blanks ACU, 7-0
Mustangs are 16-5 on the season
In the second match of the day, the Mustangs took on ACU who is ranked #15 in Division II ITA polls. SMU won, 7-0. #51 Mustangs advanced to 17-5 this season and 4-0 in C-USA play.
Winning the doubles point for the 4th straight match, the Mustangs saw wins on all three courts. At No. 1 Natalia Bubien and Svetlana Kouzmenko pairing for the 18th time this season overcame Heidi Lindloff and Lana Pavlin, 8-5, while Monica Neveklovska and Kristen Reid battled for the win over Meagan Brown and Irene Squillaci, 8-6, at No. 2. The senior sister duo of Brooke Rambally and Halley Rambally cruised for a win over Elizabeth Korinek and Sarah Drummond, 8-3.
In singles action, Kouzmenko took the win from Squillaci, 6-4, 6-4, at No.1 as Georgiana Marta made her second appearance this season at No. 2. Marta kept her No. 2 record clean as she rallied for a win over Brown, 4-6, 6-2, (10-5). Reid, in only her second appearance this season at No. 3, left her record at No. 3 clean as she held on for a win over Lindloff, 7-5, 6-3.
B. Rambally coasted to a win over Pavlin, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 5 while H. Rambally stood her ground for a win over Drummond, 6-3, 7-6. Neveklovska breezed over Baker for a, 6-3, 6-3, win.

Women's Tennis Sweeps North Texas and Extends Win-Streak Mustangs are 16-5 on the season
SMU extends its win streak to nine as the Mustangs sweep North Texas, 7-0, today at the Haggar Tennis Stadium. The Mustangs improve to 16-5 on the season as they conclude the first of two matches today. SMU is slated to honor its seniors before taking on ACU at 2 p.m. The Mustangs came out strong as they took the doubles point with wins at all three spots. At No. 1, Natalia Bubien and Svetlana Kouzmenko cruised for a win over Megan Schmulbach and Sammie Moreton, 8-3. The duo of Brooke Rambally and Halley Rambally defeated Sara Giles and Lynley Wasson at No. 3, 8-4. Kristen Reid and Monica Neveklovska battled for a win over Aziza Aba Butain and Ina Weiding, 8-6.
"We did what we were suppose to do," head coach Rob Howarth said. "The girls came out and executed for a solid win."
In singles competition, Kouzmenko defended No. 1 against Weiding as SMU won, 7-5, 6-0. Bubien handled Wasson at No. 2, 6-3, 6-1, while Georgiana Marta defeated Moreton as UNT retired after two SMU points. Reid fell in the first set to Schmulbach but focused for a, 3-6, 7-5, (10-6), win. At No. 5, B. Rambally took on Butain, 6-1, 6-2, and H. Rambally saw a win over Giles, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 6. Nevekloska and Ashley Davis battled in one match as Nevekloska won, 8-1.
