West Point, Miss. (SMU) - The SMU men's golf team fired an opening-round 10-under 278 and is just two shots out of the lead following the opening round of the 2006 Conference USA Men's Golf Championship at the par 72, 7,000-yard course at Old Waverly Golf Club. Memphis leads the event at 12-under 276.
Colt Knost tops the Mustangs and is tied for the individual lead after carding a 6-under 66. Brandon DeStefano and Will Dodson are just outside the top 10, standing tied for 11th at 2-under 70. Scott Sikes shot an even 72 and is 20th, while Wes Homan rounds out the SMU group at 1-over 73 and is tied for 28th.
