HONOLULU (SMU) - For the second-straight year, an SMU golfer has claimed medalist honors at the John Burns Intercollegiate, as sophomore Frank Wrenn (67-67-69) carded a 13-under 203 to better Jake Ellison of BYU by one shot at the at the 6,916-yard Leilehua Golf Course. In 2006, Brandon DeStefano won the event on the second hole of a playoff.
As a team, SMU placed 10th, carding rounds of 289, 285 and 289 to finish at 1-under 863. Wrenn played the event as an individual.
Colt Knost (72-70-68) led the SMU group, finishing in a tie for eighth at 210. Scott Sikes (73-70-74) was next up in 38th at 217 and Scott Barton (73-72-74) was tied for 52nd at 219. DeStefano (71-73-76) and Draegen Majors (75-75-73) rounded out the SMU squad finishing in 63rd and 83rd, respectively.
