DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's tennis team took two today as they defeated Illinois St., earlier, 5-2, and completed the day with a sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma St. tonight, 7-0. The Mustangs are now 3-2 on the season.
"The guys had two good matches today," head coach Carl Neufeld said. "It was a good win over Illinois St. who were the Missouri Valley Conference Champions last season. They were both hard fought matches."
The Mustangs started out with singles action against SEOSU, taking wins at all positions. Federico Murgier cruised over Jesse Buchanan, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 while Robin Fahgen took a 6-0, 6-2, decision from Marcos Freitas at No. 2. Chris Hooshyar posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Disley at No. 3 while Adolfo Solarer defeated Adam Moran at No. 4, 6-3, 6-1. Ryan Hooker took a win over Hiraoka at No. 5, 7-5, 6-1 and Rudy Garza beat Luiz Ramos at No. 6, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles, the Mustangs continued to post wins, securing the doubles point. Alver and Fahgen paired for a win over Buchanan and Freitas at No. 1, 8-1 and Hooshyar and Solares took a win from Moran and Disley, 8-1, at No. 2. Hooker and Garza posted a, 8-5, win over Hiraoka and Ramos at No. 3.

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's tennis team downed Illinois St. today, 5-2, as the Mustangs are now 2-2 on the season.
With wins at No. 2 and 3, the Mustangs sealed the doubles point. Federico Murgier and Chris Hooshyar paired for a, 8-4, win over Nuno Jacinto and Daniel Tobar at the No. 2 spot while Oivind Alver and Robin Fahgen defeated Luka Marinkovic and Oscar Beich by winning the tiebreaker, 9-8 (10-8). David Kuczer and Adolfo Solares fell to Yahann Nogrebat and Alfredo Lagarda, 8-4, at the No. 1 spot.
In singles, Kuczer dominated Nograbat at the No. 1 position with a, 6-1, 6-1, win while Alver powered past Jacinto, 7-6 (7-5), 6-0, at No. 3. Fahgen notched a, 6-3, 7-5, win over Xavier Reart-Ferrer at the No. 4 spot and Hooshyar battled back to overturn Tobar, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 5 position. Murgier fell to Lagarda at the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6), and Solares could not get past Beich at No. 6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
