Sanders Named All-C-USA

Dec. 9, 2008

IRVING (C-USA/SMU) - SMU junior wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders has been named a second-team All-Conference USA performer by the league's coaches, the league office announced today. Also receiving accolades were senior punter Thomas Morstead and sophomore wideout Aldrick Robinson, who were each named honorable mention All-C-USA.

Sanders, a native of Bellville, notched 958 yards and nine TDs in 2008. He ranked 10th in the nation in receiving yards before missing the last two games of the season. Sanders also ranks as SMU's all-time leader in TD catches with 27 and is among SMU's all-time top two in career yards (2,452/2nd) and catches (187/2nd). He holds SMU records for career 100-yard-receiving games with 10, season 100-yard games with six (2008) and is the first player in SMU history to record three 600-yard receiving seasons.

Morstead a senior from Pearland who has already been invited to play in the East-West Shrine Game, was a 2008 preseason All-C-USA pick after leading the league and ranking eighth in the nation in punting average at 44.6 ypp in 2007. His 2008 average of 41.5 ypp ranked 30th in the nation. He downed 20 punts inside the 20 with only three touchbacks, and helped SMU rank 21st in net punting.

Robinson, a sophomore from Waxahachie, hauled in 11 TD catches this season, tying the record for most ever in a season at SMU. He ranked fourth in the nation in receiving yards before missing the last two games of the season. For the year, he notched 1,047 receiving yards, becoming just the third player in SMU history to record a 1,000-yard season. He had a streak of five straight games with a receiving TD during the year as well as four 100-yard games.
