SMU Head Coach June Jones
(On JJ McDermott's Play)
"He did do a couple good things, but I think he'd like to have a couple throws back for sure. Overall he did do a lot of good things, we just knew that we would have to do everything right, and we didn't. We had two times down there, J.J. wanted his throw back on the one to Taylor, we got a 6-8 guy on a 5-9 corner, throwing a high ball and he just pulled the string a little bit. You don't make those plays and its hard to win the game. J.J. made a lot of plays in the fourth quarter, that fourth down play was a heck of a throw, and he had a couple of others. I said when we started if we could make them punt three times we would win, and if we don't make the mistakes, we probably win the game."
(On the failed fourth down conversion)
"That was one of the areas that we got to make the play. We had said, going in, that we were going to go for it on a certain yard line, and we weren't inside that yard line. We went for and we had a chance to convert it, we just didn't."
(On the Wildcat formation that Cole Beasley rushed for a touchdown out of)
"We've been practicing it the past two or three weeks, and we always kinda have it in there, and I told the guys at halftime the next time we got down there, that the way they were lining up, we would probably get it in there. So we got down there, called it, and it was obviously there."
