LINCOLN, Neb. (SMU) - The SMU women's golf team, led by new head coach Jeanne Sutherland, currently sits in second place after the first day of the Chip-N Club Invitational at the Country Club of Lincoln.
After shooting a 312 through the first round and in a tie for fifth place, the Mustangs shot 302 in the second round for a combined 614 through the first two rounds, one shot off of the lead with one round to go.
Maria Elena Villamil and Felicia Espericueta both carded scores of 149 (+5), ending the day in the three-way tie for third, two strokes behind the leader.
SMU's five golfers tee off tomorrow at 8 a.m. in the final round.
