Final Stats

HOUSTON (SMU) - The SMU men's tennis team received singles victories from senior Nate Lammons and junior Yates Johnson, but ultimately fell to Rice, 4-2, inside the George R. Brown Tennis Center.

Rice opened doubles play with wins on court one and two by a score of 6-0 and 6-1 respectively to take a 1-0 early lead. The duo of sophomores Samm Butler and Ronald Slobodchikov had a 4-2 lead on court three before the doubles point was decided.

Yates put the Mustangs on the board to tie the match at one apiece after his straight sets victory 6-2, 6-2. Lammons gave SMU its second and last point of the match after winning a three set match 1-6, 7-5, 6-4.

The Mustangs will next take aim at the American Athletic Conference Championship in Memphis, Tenn., April 21-24.
