The SMU men's soccer team hosts Santa Clara Friday at 8:30 p.m. CT. The matchup is the second game of a doubleheader with the SMU women's soccer team.  Fans can find tickets by calling 214-SMU-GAME (214-768-4263) or visiting SMUMustangs.com/tickets. Tickets purchased for the women's game can be used for the men's game against Santa Clara. All home matches will air on PonyUp TV. Live stats are also available on SMUMustangs.com.
 
Series History…
The Mustangs are 1-3-1 against Santa Clara University with the last meeting in the first round of the 2003 NCAA tournament. The game ended in a 1-1 tie after two overtimes. Santa Clara advanced on PKs, 4-1.
 
Mustangs Return to Westcott…
SMU hosts its second four-game homestand of the season beginning with Santa Clara and ending with Oral Roberts on Sept. 27. Two of the four games, Akron and Tulsa, are rematches of games from last year's postseason.
 
American Standings…
After six regular season matches, the Mustangs are fifth in the AAC in points with 20, averaging 3.33 per game. SMU is tied for first in saves (29) averaging 4.83 per game, tied for third in shots (62) averaging 10.33 per game, tied for fourth in goals (7) averaging 1.17 per match, and fifth in assists (6) averaging 1.00 per game.

Individually, Brenden Lee is tied for third in the American with six total points, averaging 1.00 per game. Lee is tied for second in goals, with three, while Mauro Cichero is tied for fifth with two. Bryce Clark is tied for third in assists with two, averaging 0.33 per game. Michael Nelson is second in save percentage with 76.3 percent and first in saves and saves per game (29) averaging 4.83 per game.
 
About the Broncos…
The Santa Clara Broncos are 3-2-0 overall with a 1-1-0 record on the road. The defending 2015 West Coast Conference champions were picked to repeat their conference championship this season. They are led by senior midfielder Edson Cardona, junior defender Valdemar Andersen and junior forwards Carlos Delgadillo and Satoshi "Yoshi" Chaffin. Cardona, Delgadillo and Chaffin have scored three of the Bronco's four total goals, contributing seven of the team's nine points. Cardona leads the Broncos in shots (10), with two on goal.
 
Delgadillo, a 2015 First Team All-WCC member, has recorded six shots with four on goal this season. Andersen, also a 2015 First Team All-WCC member, anchors the defensive line that has only allowed three goals in five games this season. Chaffin has the second highest shot attempts on the team at seven, with three on goal. Sophomore Dakota Havlick has played all five games in the goal for the Broncos. He has allowed three goals, and has recorded 11 saves and two shutouts.
