WEST POINT, N.Y. (SMU)— The SMU men's tennis team swept Army West Point, 7-0, Thursday evening at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center. The Mustangs are now 4-2 on the season, while the Black Knights fell to 2-4.
SMU won the doubles point as No. 39
Hunter Johnson and
Yates Johnson defeated Sam Lampman and Gregory Shannon, 6-3, followed by
Ronald Slobodchikov and
Tony Russell beating Grant Riechmann and Michael Nguyen, 6-4.
The Mustangs continued their dominance in singles play with three of the six matches ending in straight sets. Slobodchikov, the No. 49 ranked singles player in the nation, took down Nguyen, 7-6, 6-3. No. 44
Hunter Johnson defeated Sam Lampman, 6-3, 6-2, while
Arkadijs Slobodkins routed Michael Sienko, 6-0, 6-0.
SMU travels to Hanover, New Hampshire to take on Dartmouth Saturday at 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT.
