Indian Wells, Calif (SMU) – The SMU men's tennis team fell to No. 6 Baylor 4-1 Friday afternoon in the opening round of the BNP Paribas Collegiate Open presented by Oracle. The Mustangs are now 9-5 overall and 2-0 in American play.
Baylor (14-3) won the first point of the afternoon, claiming the doubles competition.
Yates Johnson defeated Baylor's Constantin Frantzen in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. However, the Bears earned victories on Court 1, 3 and 5 to win the match 4-1.
SMU faces Purdue tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. CT/8:30 a.m. PT.
