No. 19 Middle Tennessee Outlasts SMU 4-3

DALLAS – After a back and forth match, the Mustangs fell to Middle Tennessee 4-3. SMU won the doubles point and came close to taking the fourth point, but could not quite hold off the Blue Raiders. SMU falls to 10-5 overall and 5-3 at home.

The Mustangs came out firing in doubles, racing to victories on courts one and three. Julian Steinhausen and Huntley Allen continued their dominant doubles play on court three. The duo won 6-3, breaking their opponents in the final game, to win their fourth in a row. Facing Middle Tennessee's No. 47 ranked doubles team, Adam Neff and Ivan Thamma came up with a big 6-3 victory, clinching the first point for SMU.

Middle Tennessee drew level early in singles, as Thamma fell on court No. 5. Seconds later, Caleb Chakravarthi closed out his match on court No. 3 to bring SMU ahead once again. Chakravarthi won 7-6, 6-1 against his No. 101 ranked opponent.

Neff, playing on court No. 1, split the first two sets with his opponent before dropping the third 3-6. Stijn Slump, the No. 115 ranked singles player, brought the score back level at 2-2 with his win. Louis Cloud gave SMU its third lead of the match with his impressive 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win on court No. 6. The freshman has won three straight matches since being entered into the lineup March 13th at UTSA.

Middle Tennessee continued their resilient play, winning the final two matches on courts No. 2 and No. 4 to take the victory.  Both Liam Krall and Pranav Kumar battled to three sets with their opponents before falling. Krall faced the No. 69 ranked Francisco Rocha.
 
Winning Streaks
Huntley Allen and Julian Steinhausen have now won four doubles matches in a row. They are 5-1 in dual play this season.

Louis Cloud has now won three straight singles matches. The freshman has dual victories on lines No. 1, No. 3, and No. 6 this season.
 
Upcoming Matches
The Mustangs will take on No. 65 South Florida on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex. The Match will be shown on ESPN+. They will also face No. 3 TCU on Monday at 6:00 p.m. at home.
