DALLAS – The No. 42 Mustangs pulled off a big comeback to defeat No. 65 South Florida 5-2 in Dallas. SMU erased a 2-0 deficit, winning the next five matches to take the victory. Julian Steinhausen's impressive comeback victory highlighted the win for the Mustangs.
 
USF took the first doubles match, winning on the No. 1 line 6-2 over Adam Neff and Ivan Thamma. The Mustangs responded at line No. 3, as Steinhausen and Huntley Allen won their fifth straight match 6-4. The Bulls took the doubles point, winning 7-6 in a tiebreak on court No. 2 over Liam Krall and Pranav Kumar.
 
USF extended its lead to 2-0 with a straight set win on court No. 5. Freshman Louis Cloud's three-match win streak ended with the 3-6, 2-6 loss.
 
Neff pulled off his seventh dual win of the season, defeating USF's No. 1 in three sets 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. Neff broke his opponent in the final game to close out the win. Kumar brought the Mustangs level, also winning in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. The graduate senior is now 5-1 at the No. 4 line.
 
Caleb Chakravarthi pulled SMU to within one point of the win, defeating his opponent in three sets. After dropping the first set 3-6, Chakravarthi locked in to win 6-4, 6-2. The senior has now won two straight and is 2-0 at the No. 3 line.
 
Just minutes later, Steinhausen completed the comeback win for SMU. After dropping the first set 4-6, the sophomore won a back and forth tiebreak 10-8 to send the match to a third. Steinhausen completely dominated the decisive final set, winning 6-0.
 
Krall successfully finished off his three-set battle 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 for SMU's fifth point of the day.
 
Winning Streaks
Huntley Allen and Julian Steinhausen have now won five doubles matches in a row. They are 6-1 in dual play this season.

The Mustangs will conclude their four-match home stand tomorrow evening at 6:00 p.m. versus No. 3 TCU at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.
