AAC Championships Bracket
TULSA Okla. (SMU) – The top-seeded Mustangs advanced into the AAC tournament semifinals with a 4-2 win over No. 8 seed Temple.
Pranav Kumar and
Julian Steinhausen each picked up doubles and singles wins to boost their team to victory. SMU's unbeaten conference run continues, as they are now 8-0 versus AAC opponents this season. The Mustangs are on a nine-match winning streak, and their 20-6 record marks the program's first 20-win season since 2015-16. For the second straight season, SMU will face USF, the four seed, in the semifinals. The match will be played Saturday at 9:00 a.m. CT.
SMU got doubles going with a 6-1 win on court one. Kumar and
Adam Neff got the job done with big serves and great play at the net. Temple answered back with a 6-3 victory on court two. The doubles point came down to court three where SMU's hottest pairing of
Huntley Allen and
Julian Steinhausen played. The senior, sophomore duo prevailed 6-3 for their seventh straight win as Steinhausen rocked back to back aces to close out the match.
The Mustangs kept the momentum going into singles.
Liam Krall won his 15
th match of the season with a straight set 6-4, 6-3 victory on court two. Krall extends his singles winning streak to five matches.
Kumar continued his dominance on court four, adding the Mustangs' second straight set victory of the day and pulling SMU ahead 3-0. He took the first set 6-4 and the second 6-2. Kumar improves to 10-3 on the fourth line and has won his last six matches.
Temple battled back with a victory at the top line. Marin Delmas defeated
Adam Neff 7-6, 6-0. The Owls pulled to within one with another victory, this time on court six.
Jordi Redelijk fell in the three-set battle, 1-6, 6-0, 2-6.
Surging at the right time, Steinhausen continued to play his best tennis. He would win 6-4 in the first set on court five, before picking up a critical break in the second up 5-4 to clinch the match and advance the Mustangs into the semifinals. Steinhausen has won 14 in a row between singles and doubles.
Caleb Chakravarthi was in the midst of a three-set battle on court three when SMU clinched the match.

After the win, Krall stated, "I thought it was a pretty great win today. Tough conditions for the guys, but we have worked hard to play good tennis in windy conditions. Really happy for the win, and we're just ready and fired up for tomorrow."
Kumar won in both doubles and singles for SMU. He added, "Tough conditions early morning, but we fight and we try to get it done as best we can. I was fortunate enough to get two wins for our team."
Winning Streaks
Huntley Allen and
Julian Steinhausen have won seven straight doubles matches and 12 of their last 13. They are 13-2 in dual play this season.
Steinhausen has won his last seven singles matches, the last six being in straight sets.
Pranav Kumar has won six singles matches in a row and eight of his last nine. He is 10-3 on line four and 14-5 overall this season.
Liam Krall is on a five-match winning streak. The former AAC Freshman of the Year is 15-3 in singles dual matches.
Semifinals
For the third straight postseason, SMU moves on to the semifinals of the AAC Championships. They will face the No. 4 seed USF at 9:00 a.m. CT on Saturday. The Bulls defeated UCF 4-3 in the quarterfinals. SMU fell to USF 2-4 in last year's AAC semifinals, although the Mustangs defeated the Bulls 5-2 at home in March.
