STILLWATER, Okla. (SMU) – SMU's Kennedy Pedigo will be one of six individual competitors playing in the NCAA Stillwater Regional from May 9-11. Having won the individual title at the AAC Championships, Pedigo received an automatic bid to the regional round of the NCAA Championships. She will tee off at Karsten Creek Golf Club at 9:50 a.m. CT on Monday, May 9th.
This will be Pedigo's first appearance in the NCAA Regionals. She has played in 10 tournaments so far this season, holding a scoring average of 74.87. She has finished in the top 15 in five tournaments, including her victory at the AAC Championships and a tied for third-place finish at the Badger Invitational which the Mustangs won as a team. Her lowest three round total was an even par 216 at the Badger Invitational. She shot her lowest career round in February at the GCU Invitational with a five under 67.
The Field
There will be 12 teams competing at the regional. Top-seeded Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Baylor, Auburn, Michigan State, and Clemson are a few of these. Tulane of the American Athletic Conference will also be in the field, having won the AAC Championship to get in.
Among the individuals are Tulsa's Lilly Thomas, Oral Robert's Kiana Oshiro and Sarah Bell, Incarnate Word's Ellen Nicholas, and Kristen Giles of Drake.
NCAA Championship Qualification
The top four teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championship, taking place at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona May 20-25. The top two individuals from non-advancing teams at each regional will also advance to the NCAA Championships.
The Course
Designed by Tom Fazio, Karsten Creek Golf Club is the home to Oklahoma State's golf teams. The course was honored as the Best New Public Course for 1994 by Golf Digest Magazine. A par 72 course, it plays at 6,303 yards with SR1020 bent-grass greens and zoysia fairways. The course was the destination for the NCAA Men's Golf Championships in 2011 and 2018.

AAC Championships
The Mustangs finished in fourth place out of 10 teams at the AAC Championships. Kennedy Pedigo won the individual title at three strokes over par to earn her bid into the NCAA Regionals. With her first career tournament victory, Pedigo became SMU's third conference champion in school history.
Breakout in Phoenix
Maddi Olson put on a career performance at the GCU Invitational from February 28 to March 1. She blew her career best finish record out of the water with her outstanding tournament, tying for second overall. She also beat her previous best 54-hole score of +14 by 16 strokes with her -2 finish. The Mustangs finished third place in the 20-team field.
Playing the Best
The Mustang's spring schedule includes tournaments in Arizona, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Washington. They will enjoy trips to two of Golfweek's Top 200 Modern Courses; Trinity Forest and Chambers Bay Golf Club, the host of the 2015 Men's U.S. Open and the 2022 U.S. Women's Amateur.
Wisconsin Champions
Head Coach Lauren Mason took over the program in July 2021, and led the Mustangs to a tournament win at the Badger Invitational in September. SMU came back with a final round -4 to take home their first title since March 2019. Katie James and Kennedy Pedigo finished the tournament tied for third with even par overall scores.
On & Off the Course
SMU women's golf achieved a cumulative fall GPA of 3.68. Megan Daleo and Nicole Vivier were also named to the Honor Roll for being in the top 15% academically among students at SMU last semester. Mason puts a large emphasis on her athlete's discipline both on and off the course.
