COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) – Four SMU Men's Tennis players are set to take on the ITA Texas Regional Championships in College Station, Texas, on Friday through Monday.
Jerry Barton,
Trevor Svajda,
Alex Finkelstein and
Georgi Georgiev will head to Texas A&M for a ticket to the NCAA Individual Championships.
The Mustangs will all play both the singles and doubles draws. Svajda will pair up with Georgiev, while Barton will pair with Finkelstein in the doubles bracket.
The ITA will hold 13 regional championships, and two singles finalists from each region (26) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship. Meanwhile, the doubles champion from each region (13) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship.

Mustangs in the ITA Preseason Rankings
Trevor Svajda,
Alex Finkelstein and
Georgi Georgiev were ranked in the ITA Preseason Rankings.
Svajda and Finkelstein were ranked No. 22 and 69 in the singles rankings, respectively.
Svajda and Georgiev broke into the rankings at No. 34 in the doubles rankings.
NCAA Individual Championships
In 2024,
Trevor Svajda was the only Mustang to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship. He fell in the round of 32 of the tournament.
