DAY TWO RESULTS
DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Swimming and Diving ended its second day of the SMU Invite on Thursday at the Robson and Lindley Aquatics Center by securing an event win, a new pool record, an NCAA zone cut and two new NCAA standards.

Notable Results
1-Meter Diving
The Mustangs were explosive on 1-meter, collectively earning two podium finishes, two personal records, one pool record and an NCAA Zone Cut. Luke Sitz secured the win for SMU, recording an overall score of 802.00. In the preliminary round, Sitz posted a 404.05, marking a new Robson and Lindley Pool record as well as a personal record.
Grant Cates nabbed the other podium finish for the Mustangs, earning a 685.95 overall with a personal best preliminary score of 359.80. John Dymond finished sixth overall with his 335.65 mark performance in the preliminary round, securing him an NCAA Zone Cut. RJ Snyder earned an overall score of 550.50, finishing eighth.
100 Fly
In a preliminary heat, Nico Sobenes clinched a spot in the 100 fly A finals, finishing seventh overall with a time of 47.17.
In the finals, Sobenes finished sixth with a time of 46.97. Cameron Thompson recorded a time of 47.77, placing 15th overall. Freshman Aidan Arie came in second after posting a time of 48.07 in the C finals (18th overall). In the same heat, Thad Austin threw down a time of 48.27 to earn fourth in the C finals (20th overall). Zach Power touched the wall in 48.60 to place 23rd overall. Ryan Peckham followed closely behind with a time of 48.90.
400 IM
In a preliminary heat, Andy Baklanov earned an NCAA Standard and fifth place on SMU's All-Time Top Performers with a 3.44.09 in the 400 IM.
Baklanov earned a podium finish for the Mustangs, placing third overall with a time of 3:47.17. Also securing points for SMU was Leonardo Pelaez who finished 15th overall with a time of 3:50.96. Placing first in the C final (17th overall), Asher Good touched the wall in 3:52.51.
200 Free
Francis Brennan came in second in the preliminary heats, finishing 1:34.04. Also qualifying for the A finals were Sage Sungail and Benjamin Chateigner with times of 1:34.98 and 1:35.00, respectively.
Brennan finished second overall in the 200 free A finals, nabbing an even faster time of 1:33.56. In the same heat, captain Jack Forrest earned eighth overall with a time of 1:37.19. In the B finals, Aubrey Jaya and George Gonzalez touched the wall in 1:36.09 and 1:36.43, respectively. Jaya finished 14th overall while Gonzalez finished 15th.
Jack Moore won the C finals, recording a time of 1:35.70 to finish 17th overall. Mark Van Eybergen swam in the same finals, nabbing 23rd overall with a time of 1:36.73.
100 Breast
Kristaps Mikelsons qualified for the A final and secured an NCAA Standard in the 100 breast, touching the wall in 52.57.
Mikelsons recorded a time of 51.96, earning second place overall for the Mustangs. In the B finals, Trey Clervi finished second with a time of 53.57, placing 10th overall. Also in the B finals was Joe Umhofer, swimming a 54.17 time and ranking 11th overall.
Ben Longeway finished 13th overall after recording a time of 54.30 in the B finals. Ewan Lonergan swam in the C finals, posting a time of 55.55 and placing 21th overall.
200 Free Relay
The relay team of Sage Sungail/Harold Lockhart/Eli Likins/Benjamin Chateigner came in second, recording a 1:16.95. Placing sixth overall, Francis Brennan/Cameron Thompson/Thad Austin/George Gonzalez touched the wall in 1:19.38.

The Mustangs will continue the SMU Invite on Friday, Nov. 21, holding preliminary heats at 10 a.m. and finals heats at 5 p.m.
