CHARLOTTE, N.C. (ACC/SMU) – SMU All-American diver Luke Sitz has been named ACC Diver of the Week for the second consecutive week, announced the conference in a release on Tuesday.
In the double dual meet against Arizona and TCU, Sitz took home podium finishes in both diving events. On 3-meter, he nabbed second after earning a score of 337.05. On 1-meter, the diver claimed victory with a 361.00 mark.
While those performances would have qualified him for the NCAA Zone Championships, Sitz already earned NCAA Zone Cuts on 1-meter and 3-meter earlier in the season. This is the fourth consecutive meet that Sitz has won on 1-meter. His score of 408.25 on 3-meter at the SMU Classic still leads the nation. He currently ranks ninth nationally and first in the conference on 1-meter from his 389.10 score performance at the SMU Classic.
This accolade marks the ninth time the Texas native has earned a conference weekly honor, being named ACC Diver of the Week a conference-record six times last season. Sitz is now tied for the second-most career ACC Men's Diver of the Week awards.
As a freshman, Sitz earned seventh on 1-meter at the NCAA Championships, earning him First Team All-America accolades. At the ACC Championships, he nabbed a silver medal on 3-meter and a bronze medal on 1-meter.
Luke Sitz and the rest of the SMU Swimming and Diving team will host the SMU Invite on Nov. 19-22, holding preliminary races at 10 a.m. CT and finals at 5 p.m. CT each day.
