SMU To Wear Custom Spring Helmet Designed By Children’s Health Patient

DALLAS (SMU) The SMU Football team will once again be sporting a custom spring helmet design by a Children's HealthSM patient for the third consecutive year.

On Friday, April 25, the team will proudly wear a one-of-a-kind artwork illustrated by 11-year-old Trevor in honor of his courage, dedication, and strength.

Children's Health patients participated in a helmet decorating competition and Trevor's design was unanimously selected as the winner in a vote held by the SMU Football student-athletes. In 2022, a CT scan revealed Trevor had a tumor in his brain. Physicians rushed Trevor and his family to Children's Health, where he immediately received care for Pilocytic astrocytoma, a slow-growing type of brain tumor. For nearly two years, Trevor visited Children's Health weekly for chemotherapy treatments, remaining brave and positive throughout his cancer journey.

Trevor, 11, rang the bell in September at Children's Health to celebrate the end of his chemotherapy treatment. When he grows up, Trevor wants to be an astronaut, helicopter pilot or scientist. In his free time, he enjoys tinkering with crafts and playing video games.
SMU Football fans will be able to enjoy Trevor's artwork on SMU Football's social media platforms beginning on April 25.

Children's HealthSM is the Official Pediatric Health Care Sponsor and proud supporter of SMU Athletics. Mustang Sports Properties, SMU Athletics' multimedia rightsholder and dedicated LEARFIELD team, manages the Children's Health sponsorship on behalf of the University.
