PITTSBURGH (SMU) – No. 7 SMU Men's Soccer will begin its 2026 ACC campaign at Pitt on Friday Night.
The match will kick off at 6 pm CT and be broadcast on ACCNX. This will be the Mustangs' first trip to Pittsburgh and only their second meeting with the Panthers.
The Mustangs are 5-0-1 this season and are coming off a 3-0 win against Incarnate Word at Washburne Stadium on Monday.
Mustangs vs. Pitt History
- This will only be the second meeting between SMU and Pitt.
- The two teams' first meeting was in 2024, in the SMU men's soccer program's first ACC match. The Mustangs fell 3-1 to then-No. 8 Pitt at Washburne Stadium.
- SMU is tied for first nationally in goal differential (17) with Ohio State.
- The Mustangs lead the ACC in goals (19), assists (20), points per game (9.67) and tied for first with Virginia Tech in goals allowed (2).
- SMU's defense leads the ACC in goals against average (.33).
- Jaylinn Mitchell leads the league in assists (5) and Mukisa Emmanuel is tied for first in goals (5).

- The conductors of the goals were Ryder Balch, who made his second assist for SMU, and Ryan Clanton-Pimentel, who recorded his second of the season.
- SMU is undefeated with a 5-0-1 record going into Atlantic Coast Conference play, having scored 19 goals while only allowing two.
- SMU was ranked No. 15 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll and was picked No. 4 in the Preseason ACC Poll.
- Noah Holmstrøm was named in the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and United Soccer Coaches Defenders to Watch.
- Stephan Soghomonian was named in the ACC Preseason Watch List and was also included in the United Soccer Coaches Forwards to Watch.
- Soghomonian was ranked No. 19 and Jaylinn Mitchell was No. 35 in the TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Top 100 Player Ranking.
- Pitt has a 3-1-1 record going into ACC play and is coming off a 1-0 win over Penn on Monday.
