DALLAS (SMU) – After a quick turnaround, the SMU women's golf team is back in action Friday at the Tar Heel Invitational.
The event takes place at the UNC Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, and features a par 72, 6,393-yard track. The Mustangs tee off the three-day event starting at 10:20 a.m. ET/9:20 a.m. CT. Live stats can be found at Golfstat.com.
SMU is coming off an eighth-place finish at the Dale McNamara Invitational that finished on Tuesday. All five Mustangs are back from that lineup, which featured Kennedy Pedigo, Ashley Chow, Maddi Olson, Katie James and Serena Shah.
The 19-team field in Chapel Hill includes four teams in the Golfstat top 15, including Michigan (9), Wake Forest (11), Duke (12) and Alabama (13).
Pedigo was SMU's top finisher in Oklahoma for the third consecutive event. The senior finished tied for 12th in the 75-golfer field, marking her second top-15 finish of the young season. At the season-opening event, Pedigo posted a career best finish, tying for third.
All nine of Pedigo's rounds this season have counted toward the team's score, and she has fired par-or-better in four of those. The four rounds bring her career total to 28, moving her up to fourth on SMU's career list.
Chow enters the event with her best performance on the Hilltop coming at the Badger Invitational. The sophomore finished tied for 20th, signing for a career-best -1 in the event's final round.
Coming off a 37th-place finish, James has proved to be a presence in the lineup this season. The junior had a career performance in Wisconsin to open the season, finishing tied for third and posting her first collegiate round in the 60s.
Shah placed in the top 15 to open the season, giving her seven finishes in the top 15 for her career, and is coming off a 31st-place finish from earlier this week.
In her first action of the 2021-22 season, Olson finished tied for 56th at the Dale McNamara Invitational.
