RESULTS

SAN MARCOS, Texas (SMU) – SMU women's golf finished in second at the Jim West Challenge on Monday completing a comeback of seven spots on the leaderboard over the course of the final two rounds of the event.

The Mustangs came into Monday's final round trailing Oklahoma State by seven strokes for first place. SMU quickly erased the deficit and played neck-and-neck with the 27^th-ranked Cowgirls throughout the day. At the conclusion of play, the Mustangs found themselves just two shots back of OSU in second place. SMU's second-place finish put them ahead of six other top-50 teams including four shots ahead of third-place and 25^th-ranked Houston. Individually, every Mustang finished in the top-half of the 79-player field.

Mackenzie Lee carded a 71 in the final round to finish the tournament in a share of fourth place, her third straight top-eight finish. The freshman finished three shots back of the champions, Carla Bernat of Tulane and Moa Svedenskiold of Houston. Lee has eight of 12 rounds below par this season and has finished in the top 13 every time. Lee shot a 67 in round two of the tournament, the lowest round by a Mustang this season.

Ellie Szeryk ended the tournament with a one-under 71 score, putting the junior in a share of 11^th place. Szeryk has strung together back-to-back top finishes after her second-place showing at The Ally last week.

Yunxuan (Michelle) Zhang started round three, three-under through her first eight holes. The freshman finished up one-over for the round and in 17th place for the event, up seven spots from Sunday. The freshman has finished in the top-25 in all four events in her young career.

Lauren Miller finished up the tournament with a pair of even par rounds. She ended play in a share of 31^st place. Junior Ashley Chow moved up four spots on the final day with a one-over performance. Chow finished in a tie for 38^th place.

Next up, the Mustangs wrap up the fall slate with the Hurricane Invitational. The tournament runs October 31-November 1 hosted by the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla.
