BOSTON, Mass. (SMU) — The ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships kicked off yesterday and Renee Finke put the first Mustang points on the board with a fourth place finish in the Pentathlon.
Finke scored a season best score of 3,749 to earn Second Team All-ACC honors in the event. She ran 8.95 in the 60-meter hurdles for ninth, and proceeded to quickly work her way up the standings with a second-place finish in the high jump. She cleared 1.71m. She again placed second in the shot put with a throw of 11.69m. She had a season's best jump of 5.22m in the long jump, and a personal best time of 2:29.37 in the 800 to finish the competition.
Finke put five points on the board for SMU. She now sits at sixth all time at SMU for the Pentathlon.
Freshman Brentley Preston also competed in the five events and ended with a personal best score of 2,822. She achieved personal bests in the long jump and the 60-meter hurdles during the competition.
Jasmine Franklin ran the 200 and walked away with a new personal best time of 24.11 and now is sixth in SMU history. She placed 12th in the event.
The distance medley relay ran their best time of the season and is now third in program history with a time of 11:34.46. The relay was made up of Paulina Kicilinska, Haylie Donovan, Elizabeth Smits and Isabel Breaux.
Macey Hilton will kick off day two of the championship meet and compete in the mile at 2:45 (CST). The Mustangs are currently in ninth place after day one.
